Grad Awards

Attention graduates, below are some awards that you may all be eligible to apply for. If you are
interested in applying for one, email Ms. Monteiro at P0074123@pdsb.net and she will email you the
application form.

1) Deborah MacDonald Scholarship Fund “Leave a Legacy” ($1000)
The Deborah MacDonald Scholarship Fund annually awards a scholarship to a student graduating
from John Fraser Secondary School. The successful candidate is recognized for his or her efforts to
“Leave a Legacy” upon graduation. The individual candidate will have made an outstanding
contribution
to his or her school through extra-curricular activities such as: Athletics, Performing Arts,
Clubs, Charitable Events/Fundraisers, Student Councils, etc.
This student possesses exceptional
leadership skills, strong school spirit and has made a positive impact on school tone during his/her
high school career. The recipient of this scholarship award will have been accepted to a post-
secondary institution
at the college or university level. Students wishing to apply for this
scholarship award are required to write an approximate 500-word essay outlining their
contribution to the school and provide two teacher/coach recommendations.

2) Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award
This distinguished award is given to a Fraser student who has gone well beyond the 40 hours of
community service
required to graduate, having the highest number of volunteer hours of
those in their graduating class.

3) Community Service Award
The Community Service Award is awarded to a student who demonstrates a strong commitment
to volunteering in the community. The graduate has gone above and beyond the 40 volunteer
hour graduation requirement; with having the second highest number of volunteer hours of
those in their graduating class.
